What Is ECOCERT?

ECOCERT is an independent certification body for organic and natural cosmetics, with a presence in more than 130 countries. It was one of five founding organizations behind the COSMOS standard, an internationally recognized framework for natural and organic cosmetics.  

ECOCERT certification is independent third-party verification, not a self-declared marketing label. When you see the ECOCERT mark on an Arneux product, it means the formula and production practices have been assessed against the applicable COSMOS requirements, including criteria for ingredient origin, sourcing, processing, and packaging.

Manufacturing Standards

Every Arneux product is manufactured in a facility certified to ISO 22716, the international standard for Good Manufacturing Practices in cosmetics. The facility is also a Certified B Corporation, meeting independently verified standards for social and environmental performance. All products are registered in the EU Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP) and comply with both EU Regulation 1223/2009 and US FDA cosmetic regulations.

The Highest Standard

COSMOS ORGANIC

COSMOS ORGANIC goes beyond natural. At least 95% of plant-based ingredients must be organically produced. The total formula must contain a minimum of 20% organic ingredients (10% for rinse-off). Strict guidelines protect organic integrity from field to formula.

Our full baby line carries this certification, along with select skin, hair, and body products including REST Overnight Cream (42% organic), ROOT Hair Oil (69% organic), NOURISH Body Oil (86% organic—the highest in our range), and BARE Micellar Cleansing Water.

COSMOS NATURAL

COSMOS NATURAL certifies that ingredients come from natural sources—plants, minerals, and natural substances. Processing methods are limited to those that preserve the natural state. Environmental considerations span the full product lifecycle, from sustainable sourcing to biodegradable formulas to recyclable packaging.

Every Arneux skin, hair, body, and makeup product carries COSMOS NATURAL certification. Natural origin across these formulas ranges from 98% to 100%.

A Higher Standard

The European Union regulates cosmetics under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, a framework that prohibits more than 2,500 substances from cosmetic products. In the United States, the FDA specifically restricts or prohibits a far smaller set of ingredients, while generally placing responsibility for product safety on the companies that market them. Every Arneux product is made in Europe within this more comprehensive regulatory framework.  

But Arneux goes beyond baseline compliance. Our formulas are independently certified by ECOCERT Greenlife to the COSMOS standard, with requirements covering ingredient origin and processing, manufacturing, packaging, marketing, and product control. It is independent verification, not a self-declared clean-beauty claim.
